Eric in his I have been shooting nature photography for over 15 years and, with the help of my (very understanding) wife Jennifer, I have decided to take the plunge and open Eric Peter Black Images as a business.

I have been a certified diver for 10 years and has logged over 300 dives, at least 200 of them with a camera in hand.  My diving travels have taken me to Caribbean locations like Bonaire, Belize, Roatan and the Caymans as well as to Pacific locations like Hawaii, Chuuk (Truk Lagoon), Fiji and Palau.  My underwater portfolio is hundreds of images strong and will coninue to change, so bookmark my site and check back often.

The land photography started as a college level course and became a passion soon thereafter.  Years of staring at tiny 35mm slides eventually lead to my first 4”x5” large format system, which provided transparenciesthat could be viewed without magnification and enlarged to incredible sizes.
I still shoot 35mm above water, but it is confined to smaller subjects and birds.

I recently moved to Frederick, Maryland, and am looking forward to exploring the area. Prior to that, I spent many years in Charlottesville, Virginia - a beautiful city situated near the Shenandoah Mountains in the heart of Virginia. Many of my images are from that area.  I enjoy travel as well and have spent time in the scenic mountain west as well as throughout the northeastern United States. Art shows are a fantastic way to us and see more of my collection.  Check the Upcoming Events page for a list of shows.   Please check back often to see the results of new travels and an ever changing gallery of limited edition works.

The perfect print is always a quest, but one that deserves not to be rushed. There is always another day to get that photograph that could otherwise be obtained by putting the subjects or surrounding nature at risk.  Several of my favorite pictures have so-called unwanted elements in them that might have been removed prior to the shot. I have chosen to work around these elements, leaving any scene or animal photographed unaltered and unaffected by my presence. Take only photographs, leave only footprints - in the diving world take only photos and touch nothing but water.
